6-02 Meeting host family
So we all gathered our stuff out of our rooms to downstairs and all talked while we waiting for our host families to get out of their meeting. We all stared at each other once we got all put together in the lobby, all looking at each other like animals in a zoo. Funny it was! We all wondered who was with whom. First name Sid Bittman lol, and then it went on, I was number 5. Oh it was great! My mother saw me and I guess thought me beautiful and had a happy surprise look. She was dressed very nice! She grabbed my arm and gave me a kiss on the cheek. Also my host brother was there such a cute kid! And host mother sister-in-law. We drove through Tbilisi and picked up my new host grandmother. The sister-in-law and husband got in their car and drove away, they live in Tbilisi. So now it was just my mother, my brother and grandma driving the six hours to Shroma! On the way I heard many American songs, aka Mr. Sandman; Beatles; Route 66; staying alive; and Billy Joel. My mother put the radio station with American songs just for me. She’s so freaking nice! After a while I told her to put something else and she turned it to another American radio station.
As we left Tbilisi we rose to the top of the mountains and my ears popped. That’s how high we were. Also, I saw two men in a horse and buggy; that was hilarious to me!! Also, what made my day was a 1940s beautifully restored powder blue T-Bird!!! Oh MOM WAS IT SOMETHING TO SEE!!!!!
We stopped for lunch; it consisted of khachparri, pork & beef and some banana cream soda. I realize my family is wealthier then where we were just the way they acted. But they surely are funny because while we were there my mother kept the people entertained as everyone was laughing probably making fun of me, but who cares! It was pretty good but who knows what it really was! They asked if I need to go to the toilet and I said no because I was scared of a Turkish toilet. So let’s we get to a nicer area before I have to go.
OK First bathroom break, First place we went, it was a western toilet, yay! But no toilet paper or soap to wash my hands, don’t judge ok!
